Outdoor pursuits have been a lifelong passion. I began guiding in my teens, an experience that sparked a career in marine biology and environmental education and eventually led me to combine science, education, medicine, and maritime operations.

I earned my first U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential in 2014 and later started a Sailing for Science program aboard my sailboat, collecting data for nonprofit organizations conducting research throughout Alaska. Since then, I have worked aboard research vessels, tall ship sailing schools, and many vessels in between, gaining experience in maritime operations, education, and safety.

My work on the water has always been closely connected to wilderness and remote medicine. I am an Emergency Medical Technician, volunteer with a local EMS agency, and serve as a member of the KBay Search and Rescue team. For five years, I worked as a remote camp manager and expedition medic in some of the world's most challenging environments—from the Greenland Ice Cap and Antarctica to remote areas of my home state of Alaska.

These experiences taught me that good training is more than earning a certification. It is about developing practical skills, sound judgment, and the confidence to respond when professional resources may be hours—or days—away.

Combining my passion for education with my experience in the maritime, medical, and outdoor fields, I founded North Star Safety Training to provide Alaskans with practical, high-quality safety training designed for the environments in which we live and work.
